When you’re a Hollywood A-lister or a chart-topping artist and you’re making millions by the year, scooting off to, say, the Gold Coast is probably not going to cut it as a “proper” honeymoon destination. So where exactly do celebrities head to for a little R&R after saying “I do”?
Turks and Caicos Islands
Stunning but secluded islands are a favorite amongst A-list celebs and artists alike; some of which are found in the Carribean Sea like the Turks and Caicos. While they may not be visible on the world map, these islands play host to some of the most beautiful beach resorts and one of them is the Parrot Cay, which also happens to be a favored retreat for celebrity couple like Britney and Justin (when they were still together) and Ben and Jennifer (who actually got married at the resort). The aforementioned couples may not have gone there for their honeymoon but Eva Longoria and now ex-husband Tony Parker certainly did for theirs.
Another popular island situated in the Carribeans is the French outpost, St Martin, and one of their most classiest resorts is the La Samanna which is set on a white sand beach with breathtaking views of the Carribean Sea. It has been told that the resort is the place to head to for some top-notch honeymoon pampering and celeb couples like Courtney Cox and David Arquette, have certainly gotten that memo.
If it’s not the Carribeans that the stars are headed for then it’s probably one of the most upscale destinations in the Indian Ocean – the Maldives. Located 250 miles from India, this cluster of islands promises peace and serenity plus it’s also a thriving hive of watersports activities, especially diving. Amongst the many power-celeb couples who’ve headed to the Maldives are kitschy couple Katy Perry and Russell Brand, who headed to the Four Seasons resorts at both Kuda Huraa and Landaa Giraavaru, and famous A-list celeb couple Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes, who, on the other hand, hired a yacht to cruise around the many islands.
The Seychelles is also a favorite choice of honeymoon destination in the Indian Ocean among celebrities. Seychelles honeymooners include Brad Pitt and Jennifer Aniston – they headed to the ultra-luxurious and ultra-private Frégate Island where they reportedly booked the whole place just so that they could have it all to themselves – as well as Sir Paul McCartney and Heather Mills.
One of the most romantic places in Fiji and in the world is Turtle Island; an island so exclusive that at any one time only 12 couples are allowed in. Celeb couples such as Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey certainly did have the time of their post-wedding lives there what with the island’s stunning scenery and did we mention that there are a total of 14 private beaches as well?
Aside from Fiji, another long-standing celeb favorite in the South Pacific has got to be Bora Bora. Renowned for its overwater bungalows and stunning lagoons – apparently the best in the world – with their astounding backdrop of clear blue skies and seas as well as the surrounding lush greenery, the island is the epitome of romantic indulgence and indulge they did – we’re referring to Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban who stayed at the St Regis resort after tying the knot.
So if you’ve saved up quite a fortune over the years in preparation for, not your wedding but, your honeymoon, then you might want to consider the aforementioned destinations. Who knows you might get lucky and be able to rub shoulders with perhaps an A-list celeb or maybe even a celebrity couple on their honeymoon as well?
