How To Have A Honeymoon For Under $500

make upWedding days are special. It’s a time when family members and friends can meet in one spot to witness the joining of you and your beloved. In many ways, it’s like throwing one big “love party”. But when the ceremony is over and everyone has had a couple of dances and a slice of cake at the reception, you then get to do what’s meant for just the two of you: you get to go on your honeymoon.

We can understand why the cost of the wedding or even your hectic work schedules may result in you having to stick to a pretty tight honeymoon budget or remain pretty close to home. Here are a few tips on how you can have a lovely honeymoon for under $500 (out of your own pocket). If it sounds too good to be true, then keep reading…

  1. Create a honeymoon registry
If you would like to have an awesome honeymoon in lieu of gifts, one route to take is to create a honeymoon registry. This way, your guests can make contributions to your honeymoon which could save you quite a bit on expenses. Some of the websites worth checking out including Honey Luna, Honeymoon Wishes and Honey Fund. Or you might want to speak with your travel agent to see if they have honeymoon registries that are featured directly through their company.
  2. Book early
Thanks to websites like Orbitz, TravelOCity, and Expedia, if you’re willing to plan 4-6 months ahead, you can find some really great plane discounts and getaway vacations that are often much less than $500. When it comes to plane travel, you can get an even better deal if you choose alternate airports rather than major hubs.
  3. Go to a bed & breakfast
One of the most romantic ways to spend your honeymoon is at a cozy bed and breakfast. Do some research and find one that is close to where you live or just a few hours away. Many bed & breakfasts have deals where if you purchase two nights, you can get the third one free and even some of the five-star ones are less than $200 per night. Check out BedandBreakfast.com to find one near you.
  4. Look for all-inclusive cruises
Out of all the ones that we listed, this one might be hard to find for under $500 (for both people) but if you’re willing to devote a few hours to online searching, we’re pretty confident that you can find an all-inclusive cruise for around $300-400 per person. Some even include travel and food.
  5. Have a staycation
If the two of you just purchased a home, another option is to take a staycation. This can really be a cool idea if you’ve never done any touring in your own city because you can spend a couple of days and nights nesting in your house while still having $500 to spend checking out all of the sights that your area has to offer.

Indeed, honeymoons can be as extravagant as taking a trip around the world or as simple as staying at home. At the end of the day, it’s about spending some quality time together and as you can see, that is definitely something that you can do without spending a lot of money. Happy Honeymooning!
