Should You Get Your Gown Professionally Steamed?

Chances are your wedding dress is wrinkled. If you bought a dress online, it will have been shaken up in the transportation process and perhaps even vacuum packed. Should you pay for a professional steaming? The answer is a resounding yes! The difference between steamed and unsteamed dresses is huge.

While you can try to steam at home, this will only work on minor wrinkles. You should never try to iron a dress, because the hot iron may burn the fabric or damage the embroidery or beadwork. If your dress is a lighter fabric like chiffon, you can try hanging you dress in the bathroom and running a hot shower. Be warned that some fabrics stain very easily that even spare droplets can damage the dress.

The steaming should ease small wrinkles, but for a seriously rumpled dress or multiple layers, nothing will work besides a good one-on-one time with a hand steamer. To get the best price, call a few alterations and dry cleaning shops and get quotes.
