4 Red Carpet Looks From the Oscars 2012

The Oscars are well on their way, but while some people are biting their fingernails wondering who's going to nab best picture, others are scrutinizing the Red Carpet showing.

There were so many beautiful gowns tonight and Rooney Mara actually wore white! While there were so many dresses to choose from, we've decided to highlight four very special looks.

The first is Louise Roe who wore a Black Halo design that was custom made for her. We thought it offered a lot of takeaways for older brides or winter brides. First of all, it has a very structured shape with the boxy cut of the shoulders, the belt, and the mermaid silhouette. It's like power woman meets modern princess. It's sexy, but still offers a lot of coverage which is ideal if you're not keen on showing too much skin. We also suggest that a dress in this style is too harsh for pure white, and more suitable for a cream or pastel shade.

The second is Michelle Williams in a coral Louis Vuitton gown with a lovely matching peplum. The silver bow detail also balances out the look. We've seen a lot of peplums in the last year and this is a great example to take a fashion risk without going overboard.

Gywneth Paltrow wore a Tom Ford cape dress. The jury's still out if it's a fashion win or fail, but we certainly like the shape of the gown without the cape or being modified into a watteau train.

Funny woman Kristen Wiig wore a tied nude colored J. Mendel. We love the details on the skirt. It looked chic, sweet, and non-fussy, especially with Kristen Wiig's cascading golden curls.
