All that Glitters

Wedding dresses come in a vast array of different fabrics and styles and with all the choices sometimes it might be hard to trim down your choices to find the perfect dress. Beading has been around for ages in all cultures from all over the world and its a beautiful and vivid choice for brides who wants to go low-key on jewelry. Beading adds dimension and design to a gown creating elegance and sophistication. Its that added touch that everybody will notice. But how do you know youre getting good beadwork and if its right for you.
High quality beading is important not only for the beauty it exudes in style but also for the aftercare such as cleaning and storage. So, how do you know if your dress has high quality beadwork?
Quality
High quality beadwork is done by hand and sewn onto the gown. Each bead will be attached to your gown in bead by bead or in small clusters depending on the pattern. Low quality beadwork is often glued onto the fabric and can leave a glue spot or stain if a bead falls off.
Style
When is your wedding? In the day or at night, inside or outside? Beading is an eye-catching touch to any gown and the lighting of your venue is a factor. While we think beading is beautiful in any light evening shots often look more dramatic where as daytime shots are more muted putting focus on the pattern of the beadwork. Browse different photos of dresses with different lighting to see if the effect is right for you.
Care
So youve fallen in love with a beaded dress such as the Lina. How do you care for it? Many drycleaners wont care for a wedding dress but send them to a wholesale cleaner who often cleans wedding gowns in volumes so be sure to find out who will be cleaning your treasure. Find a highly reputed drycleaner and make sure they use virgin solvents on your wedding dress. There are many solvent options for cleaning a dress with beading, some of those include Greenearth and Exxon DF-2000 also known as Hydro-carbon.
Storage
Finally, youve cleaned your gown and you are ready to store it. Beading can be heavy so you shouldnt hang your wedding gown for storage but fold it. Be sure to turn your dress inside out. When you fold your dress in this manner the beads wont shake and scratch the fabric if you need to move it. Also be sure to store it away from light and air to prevent the fabric from yellowing.
Choices for wedding dresses are endless, knowing which fabrics and details are right for you is important. While you dont need beading to heighten your dresss loveliness you cant deny the radiance of the sparkles and flashes of light they exude.
