Bridesmaid Veils
Flipping through a copy of Vogue the other day, I noticed a few images of a bride in a long traditional veil, followed by her bridesmaids in cute little birdcage veils. This struck me as a bit odd. Where did this trend come from?
Legend has it that original bridesmaids wore identical dresses (and veils) as the bride to ward off evil spirits. Another story was to create enough confusion that spurned suitors couldn't swoop in easily and abduct the bride. However, the most common reason now is pure fashion. With the rise of vintage-themed weddings, brides are dressing themselves and their bridesmaids in styles that are reminiscent when women did wear veils!
But even if you're not into a vintage theme, you can have your girls wear veils for an edgy look! For an added twist, you can even have them in multiple colors!
