Choosing Your Best Lip Color

smiling bride

Have you ever witnessed when bad makeup happens to good people? Of course, and naturally you want to avoid that happening to you on your wedding day. Many brides opt to choose a demure, fresh look, but just one swipe of the wrong lip color can cause disaster to strike. Trust us, you don’t want those pics on Facebook. To avoid that that from happening to you make sure that you have the right lip color on for your special day.

Undertone

Many brides go wrong because they think that they should choose a color that only matches their skin tone. Although skin tone is important, it’s not nearly as important as their undertone. First, find your undertone by draping a white piece of fabric next to your face and seeing what color pops out. Your undertone will either be warm (the veins are either yellow or green), cool (blue veins) or neutral (a mixture of warm and cool). It is the deciding factor as to whether or not your lip color will enhance or detract.

Skin Tone

By now, you know your undertone and as a result you can narrow your search down to what works out the best for you and your look. The makeup industry uses fair, medium, olive and dark as a guide for choosing makeup. The wrong color can wash you out and no bride wants to look washed out on her special day. Below is a list of universally flattering lip colors for any undertone and skin tone.

• Fair: Fair skin tones look best when paired with light brown or pinkish beiges.

• Medium: Medium skin tones should choose plums and raspberry shades.

• Olive: Olive skinned ladies should opt for light brown or a sultry dark berry.

• Dark: Dark skin tones look amazing with dark reds and deep plums.

Remember brides, the most natural lip colors are no more than two shades darker than your own color. Memorize this quick guide in order to help you look amazing on the aisle and off. Now, go get your perfect lipstick!
