Don't Worry, Be Happy

It's not time to worry yet - Harper Lee, To Kill a Mockingbird
I was sitting at a Starbucks in Downtown L.A sipping my coffee waiting for Vivienne, my sister, when it suddenly hit me: I'm getting married.
I know, I know. I've been engaged for a few months now, but I haven't really sat down to think about things. I've received plenty of advice from my girlfriends, my mother, Vivienne and even my nosy next door neighbor...I've just sort of been pushing it to one side and hoping everything will magically happen.
I'll tell you a secret. I haven't really even set the date yet. I mean, it'll be "Spring time-ish" of 2013, but other than that, I have no set date, no venue, no dress, no idea on colors, and frankly speaking...I sort of let my girlfriends assign themselves as bridesmaids. There's a slight chance I have up to 12 unofficial bridesmaids and 3 maids of honor at the moment. I should probably sort that out too.
I admit. I'm completely overwhelmed.
"It's okay," said Vivienne when she finally arrived. "Let's start with the basics. Once we get a date, we can sort out the rest....relax and just have fun! There's nothing to worry about!"
Nothing at all. Just the number of guests, bridesmaid dresses, musicians and caterers. No big deal. I couldn't even figure out what I should put at the top of my list of things to do. I couldn't help but wonder....What is it that brides worry about the most?
Our Facebook brides shared their biggest worries for their big day, and not surprisingly, 43% of brides worry most about their budget. Whether it's keeping within the budget, or having enough to afford everything, money woes definitely top the list of things to worry about.
Other issues included general chaos of the day (seating plans, uninvited guests, a crazy ex-husband turning up, an unfortunately located pimple, a bridesmaid going into labor!), which 37% of brides listed as their number #1 worry; 11% of brides stressed over their wedding dress (finding the perfect dress, and then being able to afford it, and fit into it;, and finally, 9% worry about weather on the day.
I've started my spreadsheets and research on venues, dresses and everything else in between (including a few pampering sessions), and I'm a little bit closer on getting a date.
Am I still worried? Sure, but now the excitement is starting to take over because hey! I'm getting married!
