Dressed to Impress

The finest clothing made is a person's skin, but, of course, society demands something more than this. ~Mark Twain
I remember being a lot younger and absolutely loving the fact that Pamela Anderson (remember her?) got married in a white bikini.
As a true Californian girl, born and raised on the beach, it made perfect sense to me. Of course, this is something my mother would never approve of, so I've had to go to plan B -- an actual dress.
Likewise, my imaginary wedding on a yacht also included bridesmaids in matching bikinis. Nice and simple. And matching.
In recent years, it's been fairly common for bridesmaids to wear the same color/different dress, same dress/different color, or completely different dresses in different colors.
The last one makes complete sense. After all, there are so manhy unique body shapes and sizes and you'd want to bring out the best feature of all the girls. You don't want a girl to feel uncomfortable because she feels her dress makes her arms look bigger than the others.
Personally, I have always wanted my girls to be in matching dresses, with maybe a little more embellishment or some kind of special detail for my MOH, and luckily for me, the girls have no qualms all being in the same dress.
With the release of SimplyBridal's newest bridesmaid collection of over 40 dresses, we couldn't have been more excited to start the dress shopping process! While I haven't even chosen an official color for the wedding, we've narrowed down our favorites to 3 dresses, that we think would look good in any color.
It may not be the bikini wedding I wanted as a prepubescent teen...but at least my mother's heart will stay intact throughout the ceremony.
