Five Fab Engagement Party Looks
Top Spring 2012 Trends
December 29, 2011
Wedding planning got you pooped but still have a fully booked social calendar? As we round out the new year, here are five easy breezy ways to look fashionable and low key for your New Year's Party.
1. Go with the Flow
Word on the street is that big and beautiful is back. Dress in a loose blouse or a airy dress. The cut of the collar can be a sensual peek-a-boo or a sweet and demure. Dress it up or down with a fancy updo or wind swept tresses. Or pick any of the hundreds of DIY tutorials out there and convert your future hubby's old dress shirt into a dress with the help of a skinny belt.
2. Neon
While only the boldest fashionista can pull off a head-to-toe look without looking like a life preserver or a traffic cone, small touches can be bold and breath taking. Match one colorful clothing item with good ol' neutrals for a look that will rival the New Year's Ball.
3. Statement skirt
Perfect for a grand entrance but a demure dinner. For maximum effect, avoid a loud shirt and minimal jewelry.
4. Hardcore Heel
A low key night at a lounge bar or a swanky dinner is the perfect occasion to showcase hardcore heels without leaving you crippled and footsore. While not every girl can pull off four inch stiletto heels from the aisle to visiting each table during the reception, anyone who is reasonably proficient with high heels can manage the five minute walk from the car to a dinner table. Pair it with a shorter skirt to bring attention to your fabulous heels!
5. The Blingin' Necklace
Some of these beauties look like tiaras worn around the neck. Match with a simple top and swept back hair.
6. Geometry
This spring things go WAAAY modern art. Imitate Mondrian painting with shirts, skirts, dresses, and purses that have straight lines, curves, and colored squares.
