Girls Just Wanna Have Fun
"A girl should be two things - classy and fabulous" - Coco Chanel.
I love weddings. I love planning them and being a part of them. To date, I've been a bridesmaid a total of eight times, with two of those times being the maid of honor.
It's certainly is an honor, with many responsibilities. From looking good, to making sure the bride is as rested as possible on her big day, to organizing the one final hoo-haa: the bachelorette party.
We all hear wild stories of the boys hitting up strip-clubs, bars, and Thailand only to wake up with hangovers, losing teeth, and quite possibly without much of their dignity intact.
On the female side of things, it was a lot calmer back in the day with 'high teas', however it's not uncommon these days for the girls to go on wild trips through town hitting up strip clubs or ending up in Thailand either!
Considering this is the 'last night of freedom', my personal opinion is that you and the girls go all out. It doesn't mean you have to go on a drunken sprawl, groping away at men (although I've been on plenty of those bachelorette nights myself), as long as you're safe and having the time of your life. After all, girls just wanna have fun, right?
The first party I planned was for my sister. We gathered a bunch of girls and hired a house in the valleys where we completely pampered ourselves with spa treatments for a weekend. At night, there were 10 of us in our little satin pjs, drinking wine and sharing stories of Vivienne's past. To my surprise, some of her high school friends hired a male stripper who came to the house dressed as a cop, pretending to 'search the premises' for noise disturbance. What a weekend!
The second party was for my best friend. Being a former party girl, I thought I'd give her one last bang. We ran through downtown Santa Monica in very little, stopped by a few gay bars (she felt more comfortable in an environment where the men would not be interested in her...fair point!), and woke up the next day with no regrets. She hasn't been partying since she got married, so that was definitely the way to send her off.
Whether it's a high tea, or a weekend get away at a spa, or a night on the town, or anything else in between, don't forget to drink safely, take lots of pictures, and always be classy and fabulous!
