Health and Beauty Recap

Woman Stretching

Hey Guys! This week we're taking a break from our regularly schedule series to round out the results of our Healthy and Beauty series. I hope it was useful for you ladies in thinking about slowing down and taking care of yourselves!

On Tuesday, we asked for recommendations to de-stress, and we got a lot of responses. A good ol' soak in the bath was the most popular choice for our brides, but listening to music, exercising, and indulging in the fruity tones of a red wine were all popular choices! Did you know that a glass of red wine a day is good for your heart! Resveratrol is found in the skins of red grapes may offer protection against cardiovascular disease, cancer, and type 2 diabetes. Music has also been shown in many studies to improve your mood, and it's also been used as a form of therapy since the 17th century!

We're also big fans of exercise! Even though we work at a nice office, we get antsy from sitting all day and it feels so good to move around. Regular exercise reduces anxiety, so it's harder actually to get stressed.

Some other choices were aromatherapy, reading, art, and hanging out the friends and family.

We also received a few beauty tips. Jaxi Lin recommended drinking water. We've all heard the eight glasses of eight ounces of water a day rule, but the Mayo Clinic says that adequate intake is actually slightly higher at 9 cups. Now that it's summer, feel free to drink even more. While there's such thing as water intoxication which is very dangerous, it usually happens when you drink a lot of water (e.g. like your whole day's worth) within a very short period like during a marathon.

Nicole Cagnolatti recommended exfoliating, while Katelyn Renee Riqueros recommended washing your face twice a day with warm soapy water before splashing your face with cold water to close the pores. Amy Boothroyd suggested regular applications of sunscreen.
