How to Set Up Your Wedding Registry

pots

There may be nothing that is more fun than setting up your wedding registry. It is the adult equivalent to a holiday wish list and you are guaranteed to get some of the items. Yet, before you can begin getting gifts, you have to set up your registry and this is where we come in to help.

Online

We are in the Internet age and it was only a matter of time before wedding registries jumped from the stores to the net. Getting your registry started online is simple. Look for a link that says “registry” or something similar and follow the instructions. You will need an email address, basic wedding information and a password. Then whenever you are on that site, login under your registry in order to add items to your list. Be aware though, you should still visit the store to make sure you like the product in person as much as you like it online.

In-Store

This is probably the most fun way to register. Find a sales associate and tell them that you would like to register for your wedding. They will ask for information similar to what you would have to fill out for an online registry and then you get the magical gun. The gun allows you to go throughout the store and tag items that you and your fiancé want to add to your list. Today items that you add in store can be viewed online and you can edit your registry in-store or online.

Additional Tips

Specialty stores do not always have a registry, but that doesn’t mean you are out of luck. Talk to a manager and see if you can create an informal registry at the store. Some stores will allow brides to register with them, even if they do not have one.

Try not to register at more than three stores and make sure one of those stores is part of a large national chain. This allows your out-of-town guests to be able to purchase a gift for you in one easy step.

Register for gifts from a variety of price points. Although you may love those Frette sheets, your guests’ budgets may not. Register for items that you love or need from the high-end to the low-end in order to help save their wallets.

Wedding registries are created to inform your guests what items you need to set up house. Now, wedding registries are online and linked so you can manage your registry better than ever before. Now, go register and be careful with that gun, you don’t want to burn it out on the first try!
