Illumination

Illumination

The interplay between light and shadow can be menacing or pure magic. In addition to bright beautiful summer weddings, there are receptions that stretch long into those warm summer nights. What sort of light do you have planned? We pulled some of our favorites from our Pinterest.

The first is this whimsical lit umbrella idea. It reminds slightly of Mary Poppin's flying umbrella. And it has just enough quirkiness to make to seem sophisticated, in an exotic, possibly avant garde manner. Each umbrella is brightened by a single light bulb. While you could mix things up with colored lights for a disco-like effect, I love the simplicity of the warm yellow light. I think this would make a dazzling canopy for an outdoor reception area or dance floor.

The second are floating tea lights in open mason jars, tied with raffia. They would look wonderful as table decor or half buried in the sand to create a lighted walkway. As with all candles, there are some fire hazards. You should also time your candles beforehand so you know if and when you'll have to replace them.
