Kim Kardashian's Fairytale Wedding: Get the Look

Kim Kardashian's Fairytale Wedding: Get the Look

By Sara Doerrier
September 5, 2011

By far one of the most expensive (and anticipated – behind the Royals, of course) weddings of the year was uber-celebrity Kim Kardashian’s lavish wedding to basketball star Kris Humphries. The modern day fairytale wedding, reportedly, cost a cool $20 million, making it one of the most expensive weddings of all time.

Well, with the his & her bachelor and bachelorette parties hosted at one the hottest nightclubs in Las Vegas, to the 3 Vera Wang wedding dresses, extravagant wedding invitations, star studded 450+ guests, 7-figure wedding rings, designer wedding cake and flowers that were chin – droppingly expensive, it’s easy to see how it quickly it all added up.

We know Kim Kardashian and her famous family from their reality show Keeping Up With The Kardashians, as well as their numerous endorsements, commercials, and magazine covers. Being in the public eye is nothing new to the Kardashian clan. They share their world with us, and the recent nuptials were no different. In fact, it is said that the financial gain from Mr. and Mrs. Humphries chic wedding will almost cover the cost of the entire wedding. With the highly publicized event selling wedding photos to entertainment magazines, exclusive interviews, T.V specials, and vendor exposure; this may not shock fans that this wedding comes with the price tag that many bride and grooms to be would envy; free.

While most of us are strictly adhering to a budget, here are some ways to incorporate some of Kim’s Hollywood romance into your big day.

  • Accessories: Kim wore a sparkling diamond drop headpiece around the crown of her head secured with a veil. If your budget doesn’t allow you drip yourself with diamonds, to pull off this look, a simple tennis necklace could do the trick. You can hook the necklace onto your veil to achieve a similar style.

She also kept her jewelry simple by only adding pearl drop earrings. The outcome: simple, yet elegant. With Kim’s less-is-not-necessarily-more - style, she shocked and surprised fans with a more subtle look that created an undeniably regal appearance. Think about adding one beautiful piece of jewelry to your wedding day fashion. The focus will be less on your accessories and more on you; the beautiful, glowing bride.

  • Makeup: Sporting her signature smoky eyes, Kim stayed true to her dramatic self. Take a cue from the exotic beauty and stick to you. But, if its drama you seek, accentuate your eyes with smoky champagne hues and play up the lashes with jet-black mascara to create lush lashes. Swipe some soft pink blush on your cheekbones to keep a nice balance to the sultry eyes. Top it off with a coral or nude lipstick for a perfect pout.

  • Hair: Kim kept it old Hollywood for her famous tresses. Giving tribute to Hollywood beauties of the past, like Sophia Loren, Ava Gardner and Elizabeth Taylor. Her dark locks were pulled back into a classic chignon with 40’s or 50’s flair. Ask your hairstylist for this timeless style. Don’t forget to bring him or her a picture for reference!
