Matching Your Jewelry

Every bride wants to be the picture of perfection and beauty on her wedding day. The dress is to be perfect, the decorations are to be perfect, and make-up and music are also to be perfect. Most importantly however, we cannot forget the jewelry.
While it is not the focal point, the jewellery you choose to wear can either add to or detract from your image on your all important day. When selecting your jewellery, it is always important to either wait until you know the style of your dress. By this, I mean that you should know if you are wearing a white, ivory or off-white gown; the style of the neckline and whether it will have straps or not. Being able to answer these questions should usually be able to narrow down the jewellery to consider.
For example, a classic strapless white gown goes very well with a beautiful pear set, based on your color scheme and the set can be accented either with gold, or silver. Off-white dresses are found to go best with either gold or silver jewellery and an Ivory gown can also be paired very well with gold. Either way, it is always a good idea to ensure that your jewellery adds to your wedding dress and not take from it.
Another key point when selecting your jewelry is the style. By this I mean, should the necklace be long, short or mid-length? Should you forgo the necklace and simply have earrings? This of course is determined by the style neckline for your dress. For instance, if you are wearing a halter top, it would be more suited to forgo the necklace and wear earrings that really catch ones eye and adds to the style of the dress. If you are wearing a nice strapless dress or one with a princess cut, you will find that a nice delicate necklace that fits just past your collarbone can really speak volumes.
So remember, there is no hard and fast rule when selecting your jewellery it is always possible to mix different styles to make the statement that you want to make on your wedding day. Also, if your mum or grandmother has the perfect thing, this can also satisfy your need for something old or something borrowed. Just keep in mind that when making your accent jewellery selection, it is in line with your sense of style, you are comfortable with it and most importantly, it adds to the overall beauty of your dress.
