Our Favorite Romantic Quotes

Couple at Altar

Even if you don't read poetry on a normal basis, you might want romantic, funny, or thoughtful language to be a part of your wedding. Whether it's part of your first Save-the-Date, in the wedding program, or on your cake, words can have a lasting effect on the atmosphere of your wedding. While a picture if worth a thousand words, a simple phrase can conjure seriously deep emotions.

Picking the Quotes

It's never been easier to pick quotes and when we say quotes, it's not just long passages we're talking about. Phrases, titles, or turns of phrase are all fair game. While lovey-dovey quotes lead the pack, you should also pick language that matches the theme of your wedding. If you're a romantic at heart, there's a thousand love songs to choose from. Travel themed? Doctor Seuss' Oh! The Places You'll Go and Robert Frost's "The Road Less Taken" are shoo-ins.

Placement

How big of a role do you want words to play? Is it something that you just say, or is it an underlying current that flows throughout our wedding? Do you save it for big statement pieces like the cake? Or does it function almost as another color in your wedding palette?

For one children's book themed wedding, the tables were even named after the couples' favorite books like The Giving Tree and Where the Wild Things. But you can also incorporate words into signs, in your programs, or as mini flags on cupcakes. Some couples include it on placemats.

At a Loss of Words?

While we don't discourage a little healthy research, the most meaningful words are the ones that we've already carried for some time. Sometimes it's Shakespeare, sometimes it's a little phrase that your mom, dad, or grandma always says. Most of all, it should just feel right!
