Some of us spend hours browsing the Interneton a daily basis. So when it comes time for your wedding, it is only natural that you look to the Internet for inspiration. Instead of lugging around that big bulky binder, full of prints outs and torn magazine pics, think about a one-stop shop for all your inspirational needs. This is where Pinterest comes in.
What is it?
Pinterest is a virtual inspiration board. You know those boards you see designers use to showcase their latest, upcoming venture? This is exactly that. You can create custom categories of whatever floats your boat. Just log in and create an inspiration board that includes your bridal categories. Categories can include trumpet wedding dresses, cheap bridal gowns, antique lace veils, Victorian corsets, reception themes, flowers, or even Star Wars favors. You can create as many categories as you wish.
How to use it?
Request an invite from their homepage. Once you get one, log in and they will direct you to a "Pin it" link that you can drag into your bookmarks or favorites bar. Once you find an image that inspires you, hit "pin it" and the image will go to your board of choosing. Once the image is on your board, it will always link you back to the original source. So, for example, if you find a great DIY tutorial on wedding favors, you can add it to your board and re-visit it when you want.
Other ways to use it?
This is great for sharing ideas with others in an organized way. Instead of emailing your wedding planner a dozen messages with random attachments and scattered links, you can just share this one link that displays your ideas. Your can you easily show your wedding photographer ideas and images that appeal to you.
There is a free iPhone and iPad app available for you to download. So pinning on run has never been easier. One downside is that you need a Facebook or Twitter account to join this site. If you don't have, you can join twitter with the sole purpose of just using this site. It only takes a minute or two to join. This is still a relatively new site and they want to communicate and get the word out through social networking sites.
Do you tend to bookmark virtually anything that remotely piques your interest, only to forget about it? Yeah, this site is for you.
