Post-Wedding Fun

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, the girls at the SimplyBridal office have been thinking more than usual on love and other things. More specifically, how do we keep love going and going like the Energizer Bunny. This question is way too big and complicated to tackle in a blog post, but we've decided that it must be the small things, the gestures, that remind us how important relationships are -- not only between love birds --, but also families, friends, and those odd entanglements that fall in between.

So, in this post, we're looking ahead, post-wedding and settling down into married life. And we invite you to think up twelve things to do with your partner in the year ahead. Here are some of our suggestions.

1. Dates

Doesn't have to be fancy, but do repeat to yourself three times fast: "This is a date. This is a date. This is a date." That you are spending some special time together and breaking your normal routine.

2. Try Something New Together

And we mean, anything. A new food, a new activity, a new language, art classes. Part of a relationship is growing and changing together over time. Seize this by the bull horns and forge something that you two and you two alone share.

3. Create a Tradition

Once a week or a month or a season, dedicate time to each other in a fun, romantic, or even spiritual way. Then rinse and repeat.

4. Have a Serious Discussion

Eventually, you'll have disagreements. Rather than letting them fester, create a safe space where you can have open discussions on topics that contain stress. Regular communication is important for a healthy relationship.

5. Gifts

We're using this definition loosely. These gifts can be gifts of good, or of time, a note in his lunch, an extra smile, a hug, or being nice when you don't feel like it.
