At your wedding venue, there is no rule that you need to decorate using only fresh cut flowers. Silk flowers are a great alternative for those who want to to steer clear of fresh cut flowers. Traditionally speaking, fresh cut flowers have long been cherished but who needs to only stick to tradition? Silk flowers offer huge versatility within arrangements, flexibility when ordering and a multitude of choice when ordering, that can only be limited by imagination. However, the argument of silk flowers has been one hotly debated wedding trend. Some cringe at the idea of using silk flowers, while others love the idea. Let's take a look at some of the pros and cons of silk flowers and you can decide for yourself.
Pros
The price is nice. Those on a budget or looking to save on their flower costs can gain by choosing silk. There are different prices in silk flowers though, and different styles and quality will vary.
You can keep your flowers forever. Real flowers only a few days to a couple weeks if you are lucky. But in 20 years, silk flowers will look just as they did at your wedding.
You can buy out of season flowers. Regardless of the season, you can choose any type of flower you wish. You don't have to worry about special orderings of out of season flowers and the chance that when they arrive they will be damaged or not at their finest.
Do it yourself or D.I.Y. This can be the perfect option for the DIY bride. You can order the flowers online or get them at your local craft store.
Cons
The stigma of silk flowers can be pretty strong. There are some people that look down on fake flowers, you will just have to ignore these people if you choose silk.
Absent will be the fresh flower smell at your wedding.
They may not look real. There are different levels of silk, so shop around. Also, some flowers just don't look as good in silk as they do fresh.
