Real Weddings: Tiffany Johnson

Real Bride Tiffany

Every month we feature one of our blushing brides! Today we’re delighted to share Tiffany Johnson’s story. She and her husband, Isaac, are pictured here. Doesn't she look gorgeous in the Regina gown? We love the metallic sash she added

Isaac and I met in August 2007 when his summer tour (he's a singer/songwriter) brought him through DC where I was a Capitol Hill staffer. The sparks didn't begin to fly, though, until five weeks later when we both happened to be in Nashville at the same time.

On the dress

I found my dress after a full day of dress shopping at several different bridal shops in LA with my Matron of Honor and one of my bridesmaids. The SimplyBridal showroom was our last stop. I tried on a dress I loved earlier in the day that I absolutely loved, but it was 6x the price of my SimplyBridal dress. The bridesmaid who was with me pointed out that the SimplyBridal Regina gown was VERY similar to the other dress.

It was very difficult to select a dress because I am the model size, so all of the dresses fit me perfectly. My MOH and bridesmaid were of little help because they said all of the dresses looked good! I knew I wanted something with a sweetheart neckline, that was fitted through the hip, and had a full skirt with lots of pickups. The Regina fit the bill! I joked with one of the owners of Simply Bridal that I was looking for a "va va voom" dress and that one fit the description. I was surprised at how quickly the dress arrived and it was so nice to have it delivered right to my doorstep.

I received SO many compliments. Several women said they cried when I walked out with my dad. Our two male photographers gushed over my dress and one commented, "You know you have a great dress when two straight guys are going on and on about it!" A few other people said the dress looked like it was made especially for me/fit just like a glove. It felt great to wear such a beautiful dress and was a fun secret to know that I got it for a fantastic price. I wish I could wear it again!

On Wedding Planning

Isaac and I pretty much planned our wedding ourselves. Thankfully we had a little over a year to plan because we definitely needed that time to research options we could afford and save money. We got married in Santa Barbara on Sunday, May 20, 2012. The ceremony was held at my alma mater, Westmont College and the reception was at the Santa Barbara Maritime Museum. (I wanted all outdoors; Isaac wanted all indoors, so we compromised with an outdoor afternoon ceremony and an indoor evening reception.) Our wedding was vintage travel themed and as much work as the DIY projects were (Luggage tag Save the Dates, Boarding Pass invitations, paper mache sailboats for the centerpieces, mini luggage tag place cards, a vintage postcard station in lieu of a guestbook, etc.), it was SO worth it to see the vision all come together. We surprised our guests by kicking off the reception with a choreographed dance with our entire wedding party, had dinner catered by a local food truck and several dear friends made all of the desserts for our dessert bar. It was a beautiful and fun day!

Wedding Wisdom

I don't know how much "wedded wisdom" I can offer since we're less than two months in, but make it your goal to out serve one another. If you put each other first, you and your spouse never have to worry about whether your needs are being met or if the other has your best interests at heart.
