What do I wear? Since I'm 5'2, I fall well within the petite category and it's often a struggle to find clothes that aren't too long and boxy. On the plus side, I can buy sweaters with my favorite sports teams from the boys section! But I digress, here is a quick guide to dresses for short girls like me!

Choose

Petit girls look best in simple silhouettes like this fitted sheath like this short sleeveless pleated taffeta dress. Empire styles that will accentuate your figure without overwhelming it.

Avoid

Too much embellishment and full skirts.

Wide belts.

Too many ruffles because they may make you look more childish.

Keep in Mind

The hem length is important. Ideally, just above or below the knee. Too long can make you look shorter unless you go all the way down.

Follow the lead of petite stars. Natalie Portman favors long column dresses with empire waists and Reese Witherspoon is often seen in simple fitted gowns.

Choose looks with vertical details, such as buttons, seams and piping.
