The Second Five

Here is the first part of a 2 part blog post on our favorite DIYs. To read part one, please click here.

5. The Wedding Cake Topper

I think wedding cake toppers are fantastic and adorable. They don’t even have to be in your likeness. Animals, plants, and abstract objects all make awesome wedding cake toppers. You can let your imagination run wild!

4. The Centerpiece

The centerpiece always reminds of the story of the Goldilocks and the Three Bears. If a centerpiece is too high, it's a conversation blocker. If it's too low, all it does is take up space. The ideal centerpiece is gorgeous, acts as a conversation piece, and is multifunctional.

If you and your fiance are globetrotters, I think that a small chest is the perfect centerpiece. When it's closed, you can write the table number on top and you can store your favors in it.

3. The Veil

Believe it or not, you don't actually have to know how to sew to make your own veil. Sometimes you just need a hot glue gun. Birdcage veils are perhaps the easiest to make. You just need to purchase some French netting or tulle and attach it to a comb or clip.

2. The Flowers

Personally, I'm not a fan of DIY flowers unless you're a serious gardener. Creating bouquets and centerpieces can take hours, and they cannot be done well in advance. This might be better left to the professionals.

1. The Dress

This is, of course, the ultimate DIY and not recommended to those faint of heart. Re-vamping mom’s dress will be memorable in so many ways.
