Where Should Your Wedding Be?

Wedding Tent

Your big day is hopefully half a year or more away. If not, you'd better get moving! Now is the time to make an important decision: do you want an indoor or outdoor wedding. The choice might seem obvious to you at first, but there are plenty of things to think about before you make any commitments.

Great Things about Outdoor Weddings

Whether you prefer beaches, meadows, or remote forest locations, an outdoor wedding offers a lot of great things that many couples want for their special day. If you're flirting with the idea of having your wedding outdoors, consider these benefits:

• You could avoid the high price of renting a venue

• You get to have your wedding in a natural setting that celebrates life

• You can show off one of your favorite spots to guests

Potentially Bad Things about Outdoor Weddings

Then again, there are some potential problems that you'll encounter with an outdoor wedding. For instance:

• You might need to rent a tent, which usually costs quite a bit

• You might need to rent an indoor hall for the reception

• Nature includes bugs, rain, heat... basically all the things human beings built houses to avoid

• Some people aren't physically able to attend outdoor weddings, especially when they happen in remote areas. Just imagine Great Aunt Mildred hiking to your favorite forest spot

Good Things about Indoor Weddings

While outdoor weddings are en vogue, the vast majority of weddings happen indoors. When you consider the good things about having your weddings indoors, it's easy to understand why so many people choose that option. Some of the advantages are that

• You have more control over decorations

• It's often easier to hire a band or DJ for indoor performances

• They're convenient. Many venues will work with you to make your wedding a unique experience

• You keep nature where it belongs: away from your wedding dress!

Potentially Bad Things about Indoor Weddings

Of course, you could encounter some problems with indoor weddings, too. If they were always perfect, no one would ever choose to have them outdoors. Before booking an indoor wedding, consider

• How much it will cost to rent the space as well as tables, chairs, and other items that you might need

• Whether the venue will let you choose the music and catering options that you want. Some have restrictions that could mess with your plans

• If it can give you the wedding of your dreams. If you're committed to an outdoor wedding, the convenience of an indoor event can't make up for the charm of the outdoors.

Obviously, neither the outdoors nor the indoors is perfect. But they don't have to be. Just spend some time with your soon-to-be-spouse and decide which advantages mean the most to you. Even if some negatives creep into the day, it's still one of the most important, joyous events in your life!
