5 Interview Questions for Wedding Photographers

Finding a wedding photography is often a subjective experience. It's about finding someone who "feels" right and that you can work with, but there are also several objective qualifications he or she has to meet. Here are five questions to see if this photographer meets your practical requirements!

Can I see some more samples of your work?

Although some of their pictures may be spectacular, consistency is also important. When a photographer shows you an album, it's his best work but you may want to see all the photography for a wedding or two.

What locations will you cover?

If you plan to have your ceremony and reception at different locations, or are doing your hair and makeup at a separate place, confirm if your photographer will be there. How will transportation during the wedding be calculated?

Can you get this shot?

Perhaps you’ve seen a photo position you like, or perhaps you’d like pictures of each family together or maybe with your best friend, then you need to make sure you have discussed this with your photographer so that these shots are not left out, they're prepared, and they also have a heads up. This is not something you want to worry about on your big day!

What if?

Check with your photographer to see what the contingency plan is in case they are ill on the day or have other unforeseen circumstances, do they have a back up?

What do we get in the end?

Make sure your clear in what you are going to get, how many shots does your photographer expect to take, how many will you get, will you be able to see them on their site, get copies of them on a CD, or printed. Have this confirmed in writing or even better as part of your contract.
