How to Look Thinner in Photographs

Everyone has heard of the expression, the camera adds ten pounds. Here are some tips to look sleek and slim in your wedding photographs.

1. Stance is Everything

Stand with your head turned at a 45 degree angle. This reduces the appearance of roundness. An added bonus is that you'll also be showing off the silhouette of your wedding dress.

2. Use lighting

This is popular trick for models and it also dramatic too! If you allow a strong shadow to fall on your face (kind of like the Phantom of the Opera), it will elongate your face and make you look slimmer.

3. Avoid bright lights

If you're shooting outside, midday sun is notoriously unattractive. It creates unwanted harsh shadows under the eyebrows, nose, and chin, which makes you look tired and also dulls the skin. At the same time, no shadows can make your face look flat.

4. Adopt contour makeup

We have a quick tutorial here.

5. Stand up straight. Good posture not only makes you taller by creating vertical lines and allows your clothes to hang properly.
