For this post, we decided to ask an industry expert for her opinion on wedding photography. Alice Hu of Alice Hu Photography has been photographing weddings since 2003, but her history with weddings begins long before that! She began product photographer at WeddingChannel.com in 2001 and slowly transitioned into weddings! Her work has been featured in Style Me Pretty, Martha Stewart Weddings, and many online and print sources.

What’s the best way to choose a photographer?
The best way to select a photographer is based on style and personality. After months and months of planning your wedding day, your photographs will be a constant reminder of the celebration. There are many styles of photography out there, pick the one that you have the most connection to because you will be looking at the images for the rest of your life. The other important factor is personality. You are spending 6+ hours with your photographer so you better really like that person! You need to feel relaxed and have fun in front of the camera.
What is your pet peeve about wedding photography?
I don't really have pet peeves about wedding photography. You have to love what you do and that includes every aspects of photographing a wedding.
What should a couple discuss with a photographer early on?
At the first client consultation, it is important to connect with the photographer. Obviously you already like their work, so get to know your potential photographer and vice versa.
Favorite wedding to photograph?
My favorite wedding would be ones where the couples are having fun. Things won't always go perfectly, but it is about the couple's attitude. If they are having fun and enjoying their day, I am able to capture their happiness and tell their story.
